We are now looking for a

SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

To join our talented Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity Team.

Our environment is start-up like, dynamic and development-oriented and we work closely with Product Owners and other business stakeholders.We also have cross-product co-operation with other software development teams such as Mobile App, finnair.com, payments as well as Aurinkomatkat.fi and Aurinkomatkat mobile app.

The team is part of Commerce and CX Solutions unit, a growing unit of 80+ people, who own and are fully responsible for developing Finnair’s digital platform and our digital customer experience.

Our responsibility is over In-flight entertainment and connectivity development. In practice this includes:  

  • Seatback IFE: entertainment (movies, series, music), flight camera and route map on our long flights

  • Nordic Sky portal: web application which can be used with passenger´s own device while flying

  • Ground Services running in AWS cloud

Ways of working:
We are a dynamic and development-oriented cross-functional team following agile ways of working.

In our team every developer does everything: we mainly focus on development, but support tasks are also part of the work. Our working environment is complex and unique due to the fact, that we are developing software for aircraft. Each aircraft is unique production environment.

Our technical stack includes JavaScript and TypeScript, which we use for both frontend and backend development. On the frontend side, we build with React, Bacon.js, and Qt/QML. Our backend services are mainly deployed in the AWS cloud and using AWS CDK and Terraform.

We have our own test lab located at our office in Vantaa. We enable remote work but expect that you can come to the office from time to time.

In order to succeed and enjoy this role:
We wish you to have a genuine interest towards aviation industry and making an impact on our digital customer experience. While flying our customers are spending several hours with the digital services developed by our team.

We are looking for someone with experience in JavaScript or TypeScript and cloud development. Ideally, you have full-stack capabilities and you are able to handle both frontend and backend tasks when needed.

This role includes participation in our flights every now and then as the way to experience the inflight entertainment up in the air.
