We are now looking for Summer Trainee, Hybrid Cloud Computing to join UPM IT in our UPM Tampere office.

As our summer trainee, you will join small team of architects, service managers and project managers collectively in charge of the entire UPM IT computing environment. Although primarily working in the cloud context, you will have an opportunity to get insight into a large-scale IT environment from people, technology and processes perspective through self-study, jointly agreed induction plan and informal discussions with other colleagues in our offices. You will also be a member of a truly international IT team comprising of several hundreds of colleagues located in multiple geographies. We are looking forward to welcoming you to grow with us! What you will do

Observability helps us identify and solve problems, ideally before they even occur: By monitoring and analysing system data, we can quickly identify issues and troubleshoot problems and understand the overall state of the environment. This can help us avoid downtime, improve efficiency, and ultimately save time and money. In this position, you will:

• Get familiar with the UPM IT cloud environment comprising of several leading Hyperscaler platforms
• Learn about the type of observability needs that our team and our clients (primarily UPM IT application teams) have for such environment and how addressing those will benefit in daily life
• Contribute to defining our overall observability solution scope
• Create set of interactive reports and search solutions on top of our internal observability platform providing insight into our platforms current state but also evolution of key indicators related to it so that we can learn from the past and ideally be really proud of ourselves
• Ensure in co-operation with relevant internal support teams that the needed data feeds for building the needed insights are in place or under making.
• Showcase interim and final results of your work to your colleagues for feedback and further improvement ideas
• Although the observability will be the primary topic, if interested you have an opportunity to get involved in other types of projects and development initiatives, which our team is involved in

Who you are

We are keenly interested in a creative, enthusiastic, team player with good listening skills and can-do attitude. A conceptual understanding of major public cloud environments will be of benefit but not mandatory.

If the term "Observability" is entirely new to you, don't worry, we will bring you up to the speed. If you ever worked with services such as Prometheus, Splunk or Grafana, you already have a head-start.

We will onboard you to your tasks, as well as the rules and ways of working in our workplace. From your first day, you are a full member of our working community, and we encourage you to be active, learn, and ask questions about your work.
