Automation Engineer

We are looking for a talented Automation Engineer to join our team in the Semiconductor ALD Business Unit at Beneq. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain automation and software solutions for advanced ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) equipment, contributing to high-tech projects in the semiconductor field. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the automation systems used in manufacturing, driving both innovation and continuous development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation software for ALD equipment, ensuring the highest safety and reliability standards.
  • Perform code reviews to ensure software quality and adherence to industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into technical specifications.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for automation systems.
  • Support the testing team and conduct simulations in our development lab.
  • Perform commissioning activities at customer premises worldwide, ensuring the smooth integration of our systems.
  • Provide technical support for automation software and assist the Software Application Support Engineer with related queries.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 4+ years of experience in automation engineering, ideally within the semiconductor or related high-tech industries.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Experience with automation instrumentation and electrical drawings.
  • Familiarity with UML and modeling methods.
  • Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases (Postgres, MSSQL).
  • Knowledge of Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 PLC software or Codesys environments, and experience with IEC 61131-3 structured text. Other PLC software knowledge is also valuable.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies (CMMI, Waterfall, Kanban).
  • Knowledge of HTML5 and JavaScript-based HMI design tools is advantageous.
  • Experience with C# is a plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and structured working methods.
  • Excellent documentation and technical writing abilities.
  • A solid understanding of software quality assurance principles.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel approximately 50-60 days per year to customer sites globally.
