Business Development Director

We are now looking for a Business Development Director to lead the Business Accelerator initiative focused on the growth of the Recycled and Cellulosic Textile Fibers business.

As a Business Development Director, you will

  • develop and execute growth strategies and annual plans together with the team and stakeholders.
  • lead a matrix network of teams and ensure a unified and coordinated approach to reach set targets together.
  • study textile industry developments, conduct high-quality analyses and scenarios, and provide insights into market demands for technology solutions and services.
  • create a broad network within the industry and build projects, ecosystems, and partnerships to generate new business opportunities.
  • ensure and coordinate that Valmet has the necessary competencies to grow in the textile industry.

You will report in a matrix structure to the Steering team of this Business Accelerator initiative, and your supervisor will be the Vice President of Strategy and R&D for the Pulp & Energy business line. While profit and loss responsibilities will lie within the different business units according to our product offerings, you will play a critical role in ensuring overall success. You can be based at any of the major Valmet locations.

To excel in this position, you should

  • have proven experience in leading teams within a matrix structure and excellent skills in building and maintaining relationships.
  • possess sufficient technical understanding of textile, recycling, or pulp and paper industry markets, customers, and processes to engage in discussions with potential customers, partners, and internal experts.
  • demonstrate the ability to create and implement business growth strategies, assess technical and commercial feasibilities, commercialize technologies, and drive growth.
  • be an effective communicator, capable of conveying complex ideas clearly and concisely in both verbal and written forms; comfortable in business and technical discussions.
  • have strong leadership, management, project management and interpersonal skills, with a structured, analytical, and fact-based approach to work. Moreover, you are motivated to achieve goals, with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
  • have Master's degree in Business Administration, Technology or other relevant university equivalent
