We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chief Engineer, Piping to join our dynamic Plant and Solution Delivery engineering team.
In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all piping design activities for our global plant arrangement design projects. As a project lead and subject matter expert, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective piping solutions while adhering to project schedules and budgets.
What you'll do
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage piping design aspects of plant arrangement projects, acting as the primary point of contact for all piping-related matters.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and accuracy of all piping designs, adhering to relevant industry codes, standards, and best practices.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including piping specifications, drawings, and calculations.
- Customer Interaction: Review and interpret customer technical documentation and requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Scheduling and Budgeting: Develop and manage project schedules and budgets for piping activities, monitoring progress and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Cost Control: Monitor and control project costs related to piping design and procurement, identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
- Package Ownership: Act as the package owner for the piping discipline, taking full responsibility for its successful execution within projects.
- Procurement Support: Provide technical support to the procurement team in the selection and procurement of piping materials and equipment.
- Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other engineering disciplines (e.g., structural, mechanical, electrical) to ensure seamless integration of piping systems.
- Innovation: Contribute to the development of innovative concentrator and hydrometallurgical plant designs and engineering solutions.
Who you are
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in piping design and engineering, with a proven track record of leading complex projects.
- Extensive knowledge of piping codes and standards.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, E3D, PDMS, OpenPlant, or Microstation 3D).
- Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Experience in the mining or metallurgical industry is highly desirable.
- To succeed, you also need to be able to communicate fluently in English (spoken and written).
