Nokia is searching for an External Communications Manager to protect and enhance the company brand and deepen relationships with key stakeholders in Finland. Overseeing media relations in Finland, the successful candidate will work to ensure the impact of Nokia's public relations activities in line with broader Nokia messaging. The post holder will be a member of Nokia's global external communications team.
The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record in media relations and corporate communications, including regulatory communications. Reporting to the Global Head of External Communications, the post holder should have an excellent understanding of the Finnish media landscape and an ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a compelling PR strategy and plan to support the strategic objectives for Finland including planning, managing and delivering a range of high-quality projects and activities, including media relations, issues/crisis management and corporate publications such as Annual Report. The role will also include overall coordination on Nokia's Annual Report / 20F project in close cooperation with finance and legal teams, working closely with Nokia Business Groups and functions on key content.
The role holder should be a proactive team player, with strong interpersonal skills and have previous experience working in communications at a multinational, listed company. An ideal candidate is naturally curious and results-driven, with a passion for storytelling and narrative-building. The successful candidate will also support the wider media relations team in strategically engaging with key stakeholders.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- Lead media relations outreach for key corporate streams and activities e.g., leadership, executive, business and corporate announcements in line with company messaging
- Work closely with Brand, Finance, Legal and others on corporate-wide cross-functional initiatives
- Work with in-house and agency teams to execute corporate thought-leadership campaigns
- Create and localize content for the Finnish market, including press releases, by-lines and opinion pieces
- Contribute to local projects which require communications support
- Coordinate Annual Report / 20F project in close cooperation with finance and legal teams, working closely with Nokia Business Groups and functions on key content
- Support Nokia's corporate financial communications process and quarterly financial reporting
- Distribute press releases and Stock Exchange Releases when needed
- Support the Global External Communications team with Press Office activities
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Background in PR and media relations with experience in maintaining and developing relationships with key media contacts
- Strong experience in daily media liaison, with experience in maintaining and developing relationships with key media contacts and confidently interacting with and briefing journalists
- Understand the regulatory communications requirements of a listed company and ideally have experience in overseeing Annual Report projects, as well as preparing and issuing Stock Exchange Releases
- A university degree in a relevant field (e.g. Communications, Media, Journalism or Social Sciences)
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in both Finnish and English

- Proficiency in Swedish, or experience in financial communications and employer branding is a plus
