Doctoral Researcher in multidisciplinary research of the integration of technology with healthcare education
We are now looking for
one Doctoral Researcher
to work in multidisciplinary team of learning sciences and nursing science in Research units at the Faculty of Education and Psychology and Faculty of Medicine. You will work in the LET Lab (Learning and Educational Technology Research Lab) and the Research Unit of Health Sciences and Technology (HST) at the University of Oulu.
LET focuses on investigating and developing innovative educational technologies and learning environments to enhance learning processes, collaboration, and self-regulated learning across various educational contexts. HST integrates multidisciplinary research across health sciences, biomedical engineering, and medical technology, aiming to advance health care solutions, improve patient outcomes, and promote innovative technologies for health and well-being.
About the job
A doctoral researcher in the fields of learning sciences / educational psychology / nursing science / educational technology will investigate in Marie Skłodowska Curie degree programme of 12 partners international consortium across Europe, Canada and New Zealand. Your research will focus on advancing educational technologies applied to biomedical fields such as human anatomy, computer vision, and surgery, contributing to scientific innovation with societal and economic benefits. In your doctoral research, you will explore interprofessional healthcare collaboration within an XR-enhanced pedagogical model aimed at developing Self-Regulated Learning and Socially Shared Regulation of Learning skills.
Requirements for a Doctoral Researcher position:
- Candidates should have a Master's degree or similar education level in learning sciences or related fields with very good or excellent grades.
- Knowledge of self-regulated learning theories and technology enhanced learning, and a proven track record are required.
- Practical experience in multimodal data analysis and use of XR technology especially in the context of health sciences or nursing sciences will be a plus.
- The candidate should be familiar with basic techniques (e.g., basics of quantitative and qualitative methods).
- Candidates should be able to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
- The position requires spoken and written fluency in English language.

Mobility Rule: Doctoral researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting institution for more than 12 months in the three years immediately prior to their recruitment date.

Salary
The position is fixed-term for 4 years as of 1.3.2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. A trial period of 6 months is applied in the position.
The salary will be based on:
- a living allowance*
- a mobility allowance
- if applicable, family, long-term leave and special needs allowances
* The living allowances are adjusted to align with the cost of living in each respective country.
