Technology M&A Consultant in Deals

Do you have a passion for solving complex problems that can make or break a deal? Are you ready to take your Technology consultancy skills into an M&A environment? You now have the opportunity the be part of something new! We are strengthening our M&A IT expertise in our Helsinki Deals team.

About the opportunity

You will join a diverse team of operational M&A experts in a market leading M&A advisory. We serve corporate and private equity clients both on the sell-side and buy-side mostly in cross-border transactions. Our engagements range from IT/Technology due diligence to supporting our clients with planning and implementing the deal from IT perspective. More often than not, mergers, acquisitions and divestments require a substantial IT Integration or separation program. This is an opportunity to truly position yourself in the middle of deal value creation.

The work you will do

  • Help identifying key technological considerations/questions to be addressed in pre-deal (due diligence) stage to confirm the investment case
  • Support winning new clients and projects by preparing high quality discussion papers and proposals
  • Support performing IT due diligence on businesses across industries, and, technology/commercial due diligence on "tech companies" or companies running extensive digital platforms their operations rely on
  • Support performing pre-/post-deal IT/technology integration, carve-out & transformation assignments, e.g. related to technology strategy, IT/digital operating model, IT/enterprise architecture and IT sourcing
  • Support data collection & analysis, running management interviews & workshops, client communications and report preparation & presentations
  • Support synthesizing complex information and generating meaningful insights based on quantitative and qualitative analysis

What are we looking for?

We are first and foremost looking for a great teammate and it would be great if you had as many of these characteristics as possible:

  • Strong motivation to work in fast-paced M&A environment
  • 1-4 year work experience from e.g. IT transformations, technology consulting, M&A or working in a relevant position in an IT services or software company
  • Understanding of some of the key areas of IT (e.g. IT/digital strategy, IT/digital operating model, IT/enterprise architecture, key IT/Cloud platforms/suites, IT financial management, etc.)
  • Understanding of software architectures and software development & operational practices
  • Good storytelling and visualization skills to build cohesive presentations for both technical and business audiences
  • Suitable educational background e.g. MSc in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Software & Service Engineering, Information and Service Management or Information Networks
  • Fluent in interacting both in Finnish and in English

Financial Due Diligence

We are looking for junior team members to join our Financial Due Diligence team within our Advisory business area. As an Associate you have recently graduated from university and have gained experience in accounting through summer jobs or internships.

Our team specialises in financial due diligence services and works closely with our Corporate Finance, Deals Strategy and M&A Integrations & Separations teams across the deal continuum. Our clients include private equity houses, domestic and international corporates as well as small, owner managed businesses. These clients have varying needs but share one common view and that is an expectation that we will deliver high quality services to them. Consequently the quality and experience of our Transaction Services team is paramount.

You would join our financial due diligence teams in analysing target companies' historical trading, assets and liabilities, cash flows and working capital development and business plans. Our team typically works with large financial datasets enriched with various types of external data. Although a large proportion of our work is based in Finland our teams also have the opportunity to work internationally on large cross border engagements.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold an M. Sc. degree in accounting or finance with a strong accounting background.
  • Have a strong sense of responsibility and ownership coupled with a positive attitude and a desire to learn.
  • Be a dedicated team player with excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Be an analytical and structured problem-solver with strong PowerPoint and Excel skills.
  • Previous experience from Alteryx, Power BI or other data analytics and visualization tools, and willingness to explore and learn new technologies such as Generative AI is an advantage.
  • Fluency in professional Finnish and English is essential.
