Manager, Cost Estimation

 

to join our Neste Global Project Control department. If you recognize yourself to be an experienced and well-established cost estimation professional to lead our cost estimation team and improve the ways of working within the Project Control department, this is your chance! 

 

We have a medium sized team of experienced cost estimating professionals. The team is responsible for providing world class cost estimates for our own and our strategic partners' investment projects. Both this role and the team are crucial for the success of our investment projects and ensuring the execution of Neste's strategic priorities. This role offers a great opportunity to be involved and drive further development within the area of cost estimation and be a vital link to several stakeholders.

 

You will work closely with other colleagues in the project management office, project execution teams and investment management to ensure reliable estimations of project total cost for the investments. There will also be a strong focus in further developing our cost estimation practices and systems. You will be part of the Project Control management team and report to the Head of Project Control. Together with you and your expertise, we can make an impact today and keep our promises for tomorrow.

The job is located in Kilpilahti, Porvoo. We have a hybrid working model in use and we have agreed to work both from the office (Kilpilahti and Espoo) and remotely. Kilpilahti is about 30 minutes by car from the center of Helsinki. We organize free bus transportation to Kilpilahti for our employees from the capital region, Porvoo and the nearby areas.

Your role in our team

 

• Developing our people and ways of working by coaching and continuously improving cost estimation processes, tools and practices
• Working as the subject matter expert with our Cost Estimating topics, processes and Tool development & implementation
• Collaborating and communicating daily with other teams and functions internationally
• Working as a senior expert in gate and cost estimate reviews, supporting the team in order to achieve the best outcome for the cost estimates 
• Taking care of the team's resourcing needs and drive recruitment & on-boarding processes
• Looking after the team members' well-being, safety and administrative employment matters

 

Keys to success in this role 

 

• Extensive experience in cost estimation, project controls or in PMO functions, and B.Sc. or M.Sc., or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience in leading people
• Vast understanding of international cost estimating standards and experience of investment projects and related cost estimation matters
• Strong knowledge about international project business
• Good command in English, both spoken and written, Finnish language skills seen as an advantage
• Excellent collaboration skills with proficiency to influence others
• Development oriented mindset
• Responsible attitude with a safety-oriented mindset

 

Other strengths we value

 

• Certification in Cost Estimating (CEP, AACE Project management) is highly appreciated
• Experience about Cost configurator and other relevant IT-systems
• Experience from EPCM projects, preferably on multinational environment
• Commitment in long term

The recruitment process will include interviews and a possible aptitude assessment. The first interviews are preliminarily scheduled to take place on week 33-34. The person selected for the position must pass a health examination including a drug test. A security clearance is obtained with your consent.
