Mechanical Designer

Globus Medical is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join its product development team in Finland (Synoste Oy) to develop active medical implants. You will become part of an experienced implant development team dedicated to solving clinical problems and bringing self-developed technical solutions from invention to production and clinical use.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with leading surgeons, participate in simulated surgeries, work on implant assembly in a cleanroom, test prototypes, and finalize the product and tools for mass production. You’ll have access to a skilled precision mechanics workshop in the USA, as well as a versatile electromechanical testing lab and a 3D printer at our office in Espoo.

You will join the team at an exciting phase, as the previous development project is nearing completion. The remaining tasks include production development and transferring assembly to the United States before the product launch. At the same time, we are selecting a new project with the surgeons that will provide the greatest clinical benefit. Thus, you will be involved from the very beginning and also experience the culmination of the previous project!

Globus Medical, founded in 2003, is a rapidly growing company focused on solving musculoskeletal problems. The company operates globally, with its primary market in the United States. The projected revenue for the group in 2024 is $2.5 billion. Globus stands out from other industry players through substantial investments in in-house product development and manufacturing. Synoste’s 13-member team became part of Globus through an acquisition in 2020, adding wireless technology for extending tibia and femur bones to the portfolio. Now, the story continues as new projects begin.

To succeed in this role, you need strong confidence in your abilities, creativity, and a drive to work with details. Requirements are a university degree in engineering, a minimum of three years of practical experience in mechanical design, and the ability to interpret and report data from testing. Beneficial skills include a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and material sciences, as well as familiarity with the GD&T system. Additionally, you should be motivated to develop the assembly process to ensure it is both comfortable for production workers and economically viable for the company.

This summer, we moved to new premises at Spektri Business Park, which features excellent lunch restaurants, a modern gym, and a sauna. The office is easily accessible by metro, light rail, and car. Working languages are English and Finnish.

Please submit your CV and a free-form application by November 17, 2024. Work can start at the beginning of 2025.
