Procurement Category Manager, Solar

About the role

As a Procurement Category Manager, you will be an integral part of the Wind and Solar business area, focusing on creating and implementing procurement strategies to optimize the total cost of ownership (TCO) while managing safety, quality, and supplier relationships.

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Managing solar main equipment procurementsuch as PV modules, trackers, mounting structures, and inverters. 

  • Overseeing solar-related serviceslike EPC contractors and QA service providers. 

  • Procuring Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)and technical consulting services that support project development. 

     

You will report to Corporate Procurement and work with a Fortum group-wide perspective, collaborating across business units and areas.

Your key tasks will involve but not be limited to: 

  • Implementing procurement strategies and executing sourcing projects. 

  • Negotiating frame and complex project delivery agreements. 

  • Coordinating supplier relationship management. 

  • Measuring and reporting category performance. 

  • Identifying and evaluating suppliers. 

  • Building and maintaining strong international supplier relationships. 

 

About you 

We are looking for a candidate with an academic degree in a relevant field, preferably within technology or business, and at least six years of experience in category management or strategic procurement. If this is in the renewable energy sector and solar, that is a big plus.  

Furthermore, you should have proven problem-solving and negotiation skills, a hands-on attitude, be self-initiative, and have a commercial and analytical mindset.  

In this role strong collaboration and communication skills are essential, as is experience in complex contracting with a global supplier base and industry-standard contract terms. Leadership, building a solid network, collaboration, and project management skills are also important. Fluency in oral and written English is required, and skills in Finnish and Swedish are an advantage. You should also be willing and able to travel.
