CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation is an independent Finnish organisation that works to prevent and resolve conflicts through dialogue and mediation. Founded in 2000 by Nobel Peace Laureate and former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari, we have since grown to be a leader in the field of international peacemaking.
CMI is seeking a Project Assistant to support its work in Asia. This position offers an opportunity to assist administratively several projects in the Asia team.
The Project Assistant will be responsible for:
- Supporting the team in various administrative tasks (e.g. calendar and contact management, meeting and travel arrangements);
- Arranging complex international travel and logistical support for high profile events and/or individuals in direct contact with service providers;
- Supporting administration related to project planning, implementation and reporting;
- Supporting coordination of project activities;
- Supporting budget management (planning, reporting and budget tracking);
- Supporting the team in the project in other administrative tasks as needed.
What we are looking for:
- At least two (2) years of demonstrated practical experience in a similar role, preferably in the field of travel or event management, administrative assistant or similar.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Background or interest in Asia as a region.
- Strong IT skills.
- Excellent communication and teamworking skills; ability to cooperate effectively with project partners and stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills, creativity, accuracy, discretion when handling sensitive data, conflict sensitivity and good political judgement.
- Flexible attitude and ability to work under pressure in challenging circumstances and to tight timelines.
- Fluent written and spoken skills in English.

The Project Assistant will report to the Project Manager. The position is located in Helsinki. A valid work permit to work in the EU is required. Frequent travel may also be required. The position is fixed term, until 31.12.2025. Preferred starting date is early 2025. CMI’s main working language is English.
