We are seeking an experienced Regulatory & Compliance Engineer to join our team and ensure that our terminal tractors comply with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements. In this pivotal role, you'll play a crucial part in enhancing our product portfolio to meet customer needs while shaping the heavy material handling industry and driving sustainability for our customers.
As a Regulatory & Compliance Engineer, you will be responsible for making sure our terminal tractors meet local, national, and international regulations. This includes coordinating certification processes, conducting compliance tests, and preparing documentation. You will work with engineers, manufacturers, and third-party certification agencies to address any issues and ensure that our products comply with relevant performance, safety, and environmental standards.
The position is based in Tampere, Finland.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Stay updated on local, national, and international regulations and standards for terminal tractors, especially in Europe
- Ensure components and systems meet technical customer requirements, safety legislation, and internal demands for terminal tractor products
- Coordinate or conduct tests and inspections to verify compliance with safety, emissions, and performance standards
- Collaborate with third-party certification agencies as needed
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for certification processes, test results, and compliance records with a high level of attention to detail
- Work closely with engineers, manufacturers, and regulatory agencies to resolve compliance and certification issues
- Evaluate prototype terminal tractors for compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards
- Identify and resolve certification process issues, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to find solutions.
What you'll need to succeed
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in the automotive vehicle industry (heavy-duty trucks preferred) and/or mobile equipment industry
- Experience with all truck systems, including structural, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and powertrain.
Competencies
- Experience with 3D CAD systems; CATIA V5 preferred
- Strong aptitude for mechanical and system design
- Knowledge of assembly and manufacturing processes
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Fluent in English (both spoken and written); German language skills are beneficial.
