At Danfoss Digital Services, we are developing advanced solutions for the food retail and district energy sectors. In this role, you will join our growing Center of Excellence for IoT and Cloud solutions, contributing to the development of cutting-edge technologies.
In the Leanheat Heating Utility (LHU) project, you will play a key role in developing next-generation platforms for district heating optimization, providing you an opportunity to leverage your mathematics, physics, and programming skills to create innovative end-to-end solutions.

The position is posted for our brand-new campuses in either Copenhagen, Kolding or Helsinki, where we support flexible work arrangements.
Job Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a key role in developing solutions for end-to-end optimization in district heating. This includes network simulations, production optimization, and connecting demand-side responses.
You will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of impactful activities, including:
- Implementing production optimization solutions using Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) techniques in Gurobi, a state-of-the-art optimization solver together with our team of Data Scientists.
- Developing novel optimization models for decisions under uncertainty, including e.g. interactions with the electricity market.
- Working on building and developing data pipelines via various data engineering technologies together with our Data Engineer.
- Working on cutting edge projects related to district heating, such as demand side response and end-to-end optimization that connects the whole value chain from heat producers to consumers.
You will also join our Data Science Guild, where you get to meet like-minded peers who are able to support your project. Data Science Guild is a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and exploring the latest innovations in the field.

Key qualification and preferred skills to succeed in this role:
- A master's degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, physics, or a related field. A PhD is an advantage but not required.
- Knowledge of advanced large-scale optimization techniques is preferential.
- Proficiency in Python, our primary programming language for optimization and analytics, with familiarity in C++ or the .Net Framework being a plus.
- Knowledge of district heating/cooling systems or energy trading is an asset.
- Fluency in English. Speaking Danish is a plus.
