We are now looking for a Summer Trainee to join our UPM Biochemicals Lignin Team in Lappeenranta. This position is temporary and continues from May to the end of August 2025.

Welcome to the UPM Biochemicals Lignin Team. We are excited to work together with you on various technical development topics in UPM's lignin business. What you will do

  • Plan and execute laboratory and pilot scale product and application development testing related to lignin and its different uses
  • Reporting the results
  • Prepare literature reviews on specific topics
  • Supporting the team in various development and customer projects

Who you are

  • We are looking for a student with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in the field of organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, chemical engineering, or other equivalent training/experience. In addition, knowhow in lignin, polymers, adhesives, and composite materials is seen as an asset
  • You feel comfortable working in laboratory and pilot environment, also independently
  • We highly appreciate a positive and hands-on attitude, eagerness to learn new things and to take initiative and responsibility
  • You have good verbal and written communication skills in English
