Summer Trainee, Research Trainee, Materials and Composites

We are now looking for four Summer Trainee, Research Trainees to join our Materials and Composites R&D team. This position is temporary and continues approximately 3 months from May to August 2025. This position in located in Lappeenranta, Finland.

Welcome to our team! We are excited to have you join us as summer trainee, Research trainee. What you will do

  • Work with R&D experts for new application development
  • Build on your current competencies and learn interesting new things for future
  • Play an important part in high energy team, which develops new lignocellulosic materials to customers' future needs
  • Conduct literature reviews, participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on project progress and challenges
  • Collaborate with team members to design and optimize experimental setups
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate research findings
  • Network with stakeholders and learn to understand how industrial R&D is performed

Who you are


We are looking for a team player with strong initiative and responsibility.  You will need excellent English skills, both verbal and written, and good communication skills. Other language skills are considered as an asset. In addition:

  • You have good knowledge in fiber chemistry, polymer chemistry, materials science and engineering or similar with some know of lignocellulosic materials
  • You enjoy conducting literature reviews, processing scientific text and data, as well as reporting
  • You enjoy working on interdisciplinary topics and interacting and collaborating with researchers
  • You have an analytical mindset, an organized way of working, and eagerness to learn new skills and take initiative and responsibility
  • You feel comfortable working in various environments, both in a team and independently
