We are looking for a Thesis worker to start research in R&D department with the subject: Thermal Management Systems for Underground Equipment on March 1st - October 31st, 2025.
In this position, you will research, analyze and simulate different solutions to improve thermal management systems in Normet SmartDrive® battery electric underground equipment. The focus of the thesis is to delve deep into the systems of our leading battery-electric platform and propose optimizations according to various technical sources, own research and virtual prototyping.
We offer a chance for hybrid work with a chance in working at some of our locations in Finland. Normet main site is in Iisalmi, but some parts of the work may be done in our other offices in Oulu, Kuopio, Espoo or Tampere. There is also an option for occasional remote work.
Main Responsibilities and tasks:

Conduct analysis and simulations of thermal management systems for various Normet BEV equipment.

Utilize advanced simulation software.

Apply scientific methods to develop optimized solutions.

Report and present findings effectively.
To shine in this position, we hope you have:

Master's degree's studies in Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Physics or other relevant faculty

Understanding and experience in using Matlab/Simulink

Readiness to travel to Iisalmi factory at a regular basis

Studies or experience from FEA, CFD and MBS are considered as an advantage

Good communication skills in English, ability to communicate in Finnish is seen as an advantage

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Proactive way of working and eagerness to learn
