Do you want to be our next Research Trainee in the Data-driven Circular Construction team?

As a Research Trainee, your key goal is to support our research activities on data-driven circular design in construction. In this position, you will have an essential role in preparing for testing use cases for data-driven circular design and conducting initial tests.

Our Data-driven Circular Construction team works on construction digitalisation and circularity in the construction sector. Our research supports the development of a smart and sustainable built environment.

What would your responsibilities as a Research Trainee include?

  • You will prepare and implement testing for use cases focusing on circular design with novel BIM-based tools.
  • You will attend testing sessions and collect feedback from our partners and contribute to documentation of the findings.
  • With the research group, you will be improving the circular design process to reduce the environmental impact of construction.
  • Follow-up tasks based on your interest in our ongoing projects can be agreed upon.

Who we are looking for?

  • We are looking for a master's student in Architecture, Structural Engineering, or Construction Management who is in the later stages of their studies and feels right at home using BIM software. It could also be possible to write a master's thesis if you are at that phase of your studies.
  • You should have a basic understanding of circular design practices and a good understanding of Tekla Structures. This means you can modify designs, model parameters, and use different plugins.
  • Knowledge of industry standards like IFC is considered a plus.
  • We will help you set up and apply structured testing methods and report research findings.

As a person, we hope that you are:

  • A curious mind with a willingness to develop and take on new challenges. Our team consist of 10 approachable and easy-going experts. We value own initiative, openness, and new ideas. Even though we are primarily supporting you, we are looking forward to learning from you as well.
