Welder
Are you looking to develop your career in structural steel welding with one of Europe's leading steelwork specialists? Severfield is seeking motivated and safety-conscious site-based Welder's Mate to support remedial and welding activities on major projects across Finland.
Whether you're an experienced welder or currently developing your skills towards an NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or similar qualifications), this is an excellent opportunity to work in a supportive team environment, learn from industry experts, and contribute to complex and high-profile projects.
As a Welder's Mate, you will support the Welding Foreman in carrying out on-site remedial works and welding activities in accordance with approved RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements), lift plans, and permit systems. You will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures, safety standards, and client programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out remedial works and fire marshal duties as directed by the Welding Foreman.
- Follow all site and company procedures, including risk assessments, method statements, and permits.
- Complete electrical equipment safety checks and maintain associated records.
- Ensure full compliance with site working hours, break times, and shift patterns.
- Accurately log attendance using the Donseed System.
- Operate only within the scope of your training, ensuring you are competent for each task.
- Work collaboratively with your squad, promoting good behaviour, high morale, and productivity.
- Inspect all tools, plant, and PPE prior to use, ensuring they are fit for purpose and reporting any defects immediately.
- Contribute to overcoming daily work challenges to keep the project on programme.
Qualifications and Training
Required:
- Valid CSCS Card (or Työturvallisuuskortti to access site)
- Basic Maths and English skills
- Fire Marshal training
- Manual Handling training
- Harness training
- Relevant bolting and hand tool training
- Competency in remedial works and use of relevant plant and equipment
Experience:
- Suitable for trainee welders or those developing towards full qualification (typically over a 3-year period).
- Ongoing learning and development are expected as part of the role.
Safety Responsibilities:
- Responsible for your own safety and compliance with all site safety procedures.
- Follow all statutory regulations, company safety processes, and good industry practices at all times.
