NAPA Safety Solutions provides industry leading digital solutions for enhancing the safety and efficiency of ship operations, focusing on passenger ship segment. Our products are trusted by 10000+ users onboard the global fleet of international cruise ships. We are now looking for a Lead UX Designer to lead and conduct the UX/UI design and development for the selected product lines in Safety Solutions portfolio. You will work closely with customers and internal and external stakeholders to create detailed and concept design for new products and services.

This role is full-time and permanent. Your home base will be our office in Ruoholahti, Helsinki where you can work in hybrid mode. This role requires travelling to visit our customers and other NAPA offices.

What you will be doing

  • User research: Conducting interviews, surveys, and usability tests to understand user needs and behaviors
  • User Interface Design: Designing the layout, visual elements, and interactive components of the software. Contribute and develop NAPAs Design system.
  • Visual Design: Taking ownership of the visual aspects of your designs to ensure a polished and professional outcome. Collaborate with visual designers to align on the broader design vision and maintain consistency across the product.
  • Usability Testing: Testing the software with real users to identify any usability issues and gather feedback. Participate in building a regular usability testing practice for NAPA product development needs, combining in-house testing and external testing by service providers.
  • Wireframing and Prototyping: Creating wireframes and interactive prototypes to visualize design solutions.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with developers, other designers, product owners, sales managers and Business Design Team and other stakeholders to ensure the design aligns with business goals and technical constraints.

In addition, we would be impressed if you could provide us with at least some of the following:

  • Service Design: Capability to create stakeholder maps, customer journeys and Service blueprints and look at the service from higher perspective considering the feasibility, viability and desirability of the service.
  • Problem solving & Strategic thinking: Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the current services. Identify opportunities for innovation and new service offerings. Align initiatives with the company's business goals, customers real needs, and company vision.
  • Facilitate workshops: Plan and facilitate design workshops and brainstorming sessions to align teams, generate ideas, and co-create solutions with stakeholders.
  • Competitor analysis: Study similar services in the marker to benchmark and gather inspiration.
  • Continuous Improvement: Iterating on designs based on user feedback and changing requirements.

What we expect from you

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in UX Design in software development
  • Relevant educational background, preferably bachelor's or master's degree in field of design
  • Strong skills in Design tools: Figma, Adobe CC
  • Strong skills in User centric design methods: User-centered design methods, like user interviews and usability testing
  • A good eye for visual design and the ability to contribute to the visual refinement of your work in collaboration with visual designers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: ability to collaborate and cooperate with internal and external stakeholders and a wide range of experts in the technical field to create trusting relationships
  • Proactive and self-managed way of working
  • Fluent English language skills, both written and spoken
