We are now looking for a paralegal for a full-time, permanent position in Helsinki. The position is in Finnfund’s legal affairs function, and as a paralegal, you report to the chief legal counsel.
What you will be doing
Finnfund is mandated to provide long-term financing for economically feasible private sector projects in emerging markets. At the end of 2023, Finnfund’s portfolio contained 198 investment decisions in 53 countries. Our financing is channeled either as debt, equity, or mezzanine instruments. We invest also through private equity funds.
In this position, you will assist legal counsels in their daily work, specifically in the preparation and monitoring of projects. You will
- assist legal counsels in drafting, reviewing, and managing agreements and other documents
- independently coordinate specifically assigned responsibilities within projects (including but not limited to engaging external lawyers, coordinating and managing signings, as well as coordinating and managing CP and CS documents)
- assist legal counsels in research and preparing various memos
- participate in the development of operations and the information systems supporting them, as well as the maintenance and administration of databases
- substitute legal assistant, if/when necessary.
Who we are looking for
An ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s level degree with a focus on law and a minimum of 3 years of applicable professional experience from a law firm or legal department of a company or a financial institution. We expect you to have completed studies in company law and contract law and require knowledge of the legal concepts of the same. You should also have experience in assisting with legal matters. Experience in assisting with debt financing and/or equity investments, as well as cross-border transactions, is considered an asset.
Excellent writing and communication skills in English are prerequisites, while fluency in other languages and international experience are considered assets. A successful candidate for this position is a proactive person who has good teamwork skills, the capability to take responsibility and full ownership of their work and is able to work independently under time pressure. In today’s hybrid working environment excellent ICT skills are required.
