Danfoss Editron is in an industry-leader position in the field of electric powertrains for heavy duty electric and hybrid vehicles, and we enjoy a strong market position, working with some of the world's leading heavy duty vehicle and marine manufacturers.

 

We now have an opportunity to recruit a seasoned leader to join in the role of Power Electronics Director for Danfoss Editron, with the successful candidate ideally basing themselves from our site in Lappeenranta, Finland. This role will lead our electronics department in the development of world-class power electronics for vehicle powertrains, overseeing a team of based primarily in Finland, as well as the USA and India.

 

The Power Electronics Director will demonstrate a detailed background in power electronics, ideally within automotive, off-highway, commercial vehicles, or marine applications, or within a similar related industry.  Proven leadership capabilities to develop, direct and mentor our team will be required, as well as the drive to play a leading role in our ongoing growth and development as an organisation.

 

Relocation support is available for the right candidate.

Job Responsibilities

The Power Electronics Director will take responsibility for:

 

  • Technical leadership to the Danfoss Editron division within power electronics.
  • Working with the global technology group to define and execute the technology roadmap.
  • Ensure that New Product Development are executed in accordance with the technical requirements and timeline of the project.
  • Providing leadership to a global team of electronics and hardware engineers.
  • Working with key suppliers, such as our sister company Semikron Danfoss, to ensure we stay on our technology and product roadmap.
  • Working with the Danfoss Editron Sales team to ensure that we maintain technical alignment with Customers, including supporting RFI/RFQ responses.
  • Facilitating regular meetings with stakeholders to ensure transparency regarding project issues and decisions.
  • Producing accurate and timely reporting of project status.
  • Occasionally writing program funding proposals as necessary.
  • Working directly with suppliers and customers as necessary.
  • Ensuring goals are met in areas including customer satisfaction, safety, quality and team member performance.

Background & Skills

We would expect candidates to demonstrate the following:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant subject
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience within Power Electronics, including system voltages up to 850Vdc, working knowledge of IGBT(Si) and Wide Band Gap (SiC, GaN) semiconductor technologies
  • Experience within automotive, off-highway, commercial vehicles, or marine applications, or within a similar related industry.
  • Experienced within industrialization and design for manufacture.
  • Proven people management skills, and ability to develop, direct and mentor reports.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders 
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Proven creative thinking and problem solving skills
  • Documentation Skills, Safety Management, eCAD, simulation, and proficiency with Microsoft Suite
