Project coordinator

University Services at the University of Helsinki enables our international academic community to focus on its core duties: research, teaching, studying and public engagement.

As part of University Services, the Research Services sector supports the University's internationally high-quality research and its prerequisites, doctoral education, and the impact and usability of research.

We are now seeking a PROJECT COORDINATOR as a fixed-term substitute for a maternity leave from 9/2024 until 5/2025.

You will work at the University of Helsinki Meilahti campus supporting the Translational Immunology Research Program (TRIMM) and Hematology Research Group (HRUH), both led by Professor Satu Mustjoki. The goal of TRIMM is to explore the development and regulation of T cells and immune tolerance and understand the aberrant immune responses in auto- and alloimmune diseases and cancer (www.helsinki.fi/trimm). HRUH, which is one of the 14 groups belonging to TRIMM, aims to understand the pathobiology of malignant blood diseases and related autoimmune disorders and find novel therapy targets and modes of action. We combine basic cancer research with clinical drug studies and our long-term goal is to develop curative treatment strategies for patients (www.helsinki.fi/hematology).

The duties

You will assist in the coordination and administration of the research program together with its leader and other researchers. The tasks include planning and organizing events, meetings and trainings, facilitating collaboration with partner organizations and institutions, and communications between the partners and the public. As a project coordinator for HRUH, your duties will involve support in other administrative work such as coordination of grant and project reporting, contract preparation and permission applications, as well as helping with finances and HR-related tasks and in the introduction of new lab personnel. Tasks will also include communication tasks, such as maintenance of the web pages and other media channels. Support in applying for new research funding, managing ongoing projects and liaising national and international collaboration are emphasized in the tasks of the research group.

Requirements

You have excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving skills, strong capability to work independently as well as cooperate harmoniously with research staff. Experience in project coordination and management in projects with international staff are appreciated. The candidate should have fluency in written and spoken English, knowledge of Finnish or other European languages will be an advantage. Studies in relevant fields of science such as biomedical or life sciences in general and ability to participate in scientific writing for funding applications and reporting will be considered as an asset.

Why work for us?

We offer you a diverse and challenging position supporting top-level research in an international work community.
