We're looking for (Senior) Development Engineers, Mechanics to join our Terminal Tractor New Product Development team. In this pivotal role, you'll play a crucial part in enhancing our product portfolio to meet customer needs while shaping the heavy material handling industry and driving sustainability for our customers.
As a Development Engineer, you will develop and support mechanical systems for both current and future terminal tractor (TT) projects. You will demonstrate a broad understanding of system interactions for diesel and electric-powered Kalmar TTs, designing subsystems that meet the demands of global customers, comply with legislation, and satisfy internal requirements.
The position is based in Tampere, Finland.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Choose design solutions, materials, and components based on customer demands
- Define technical specifications for mechanical components and systems
- Ensure that components and systems meet customer requirements, product safety standards, legislative regulations, and internal demands for TT products
- Perform project tasks in line with specified requirements and deadlines
- Collaborate with product development, sourcing, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of systems
- Define component verification and validation test requirements
- Work closely with Test and Validation Engineers to confirm system performance.
What you'll need to succeed
Education
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
- Open to recent graduates as well as experienced engineers
- Mobile equipment experience is preferred
- Experience with electrical or control systems is an advantage.
Competencies
- Theoretical and applied knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and diesel systems
- Proficiency in 3D CAD systems; CATIA V5 experience is preferred
- Knowledge of 3DExperience is a plus
- Strong aptitude for mechanical design
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
