Senior Manager, Innovation Portfolio

About the role 

We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead the development of a strong portfolio of innovation projects. You will create an execution strategy to capture and nurture ideas into growth ventures. As the spearhead for customer-centric and data-driven ideation, experimentation, and validation, you will establish and manage portfolio steering in alignment with Fortum's strategy and long-term goals. You will have P&L responsibility for your area, lead and inspire a team, and ensure collaboration across Innovation & Venturing and other parts of Fortum. 

More in detail, in this role you will: 

• Develop and implement strategies for an innovation portfolio aligned with business goals. 

• Lead and enable a team of best in class intrapreneurs to develop innovation projects with high growth potential.  

• Actively contribute to strategical discussions and overall decision making in internal venturing leadership team.  

• Identify and prioritize key areas for innovation with relevant teams. 

• Manage a portfolio of innovation projects from idea stage to growth ventures, based on customer insights and validated learnings. 

• Maintain a balanced innovation pipeline, manage risks, financial aspects, and report on progress. 

• Organize and execute innovation challenges to capture and grow ideas internally and externally. 

• Recruit, inspire, and manage a high-performing team, providing support and sharing insights. 

• Foster collaboration across departments and with external partners to develop future growth options. 

You will report to the Director, Internal Venturing. You can be located in any of our three offices in Espoo (Finland), Solna (Sweden) and Oslo (Norway).

About you 

Who you are is more important than what you have done. We believe you are a visionary thinker with entrepreneurial mindset and passion for driving innovation culture and projects. But since this is a crucial position we also believe that to succeed and thrive in this role, you should have: 

• University degree in a relevant field. 

• Strong demonstrated leadership skills and several years of experience from senior management positions with responsibility for portfolios of innovation projects or highly complex, early phase business development projects with high growth potential.  

• Experience from a startup going from seed to series A is a clear advantage. 

• Proven track record and clear responsibility for developing ideas into growth ventures in a corporate setting and successfully bringing new products/services to the market. 

• Strong know-how on fostering customer insights into actionable investment proposals. 

• You are familiar with design thinking, lean start-up, and metered funding. 

• You are fluent in English and it's a strong merit if you have good knowledge of the local Nordic language.
